Paisley, with its peculiar teardrop shape (pronounced "PAYZ-lee"), has a long history that dates back to Persia. While the town of Paisley, Scotland, gave it its current name, the design itself dates back much earlier.

Some say the teardrop represents a stylized cypress tree, which was a symbol of life and immortality in ancient societies. This recalls the Nike Air Force 1's continuing popularity, a design that is nonetheless famous despite its age. Paisley, like the Air Force 1, is timeless and remains a cultural symbol.
